Dr Jackie Curtis is the Clinical Director of Youth Mental Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) and conjoint Senior Lecturer with the School of Psychiatry UNSW. She has worked with young people with psychosis, and emerging mental health disorders in both public tertiary mental health services as well as headspace Bondi Junction. She has a long-standing interest in the physical health of young people with severe mental illness. Dr Curtis developed and implemented the Keeping the Body in Mind Program, initially within the Early Psychosis Programme, based at the Bondi Centre which focuses on the screening, prevention and intervention in people with Severe Mental Illness.

Dr Curtis’s clinical research has had strong research translation implications, influencing clinical practice, health service delivery, policy and guidelines in mental health services locally, nationally and internationally. With other colleagues she started the international group concerned with physical health in young people with psychosis (iphYs) in 2010 which she co-chairs. This is now auspiced by the International Early Psychosis Association. Dr Curtis is regularly invited to speak nationally and internationally.
