Jack Modell, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist who spent nearly 20 years in academic medicine at the Universities of Vermont, Michigan, and Alabama at Birmingham, providing patient care, teaching, conducting clinical research, and ultimately attaining the rank of tenured professor. After leaving academia in 2001, Dr. Modell joined GlaxoSmithKline, where he became a vice president in neurosciences R&D, and during which time he also served as an executive sponsor of GSK’s LGBT employee resource group.

Dr. Modell is currently vice president and senior medical officer at Rho, a contract research organization in Chapel Hill, where he provides medical and scientific expertise across multiple therapeutic areas to ensure the integrity of clinical trials and the safety and welfare of subjects in these trials. Dr. Modell has authored dozens of peer-reviewed scientific publications, is well known for his medical research, and has received numerous honors and awards for his work with patients, mental health advocacy, and support of workplace diversity.
