John Graham Thomas, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Brown Alpert Medical School and Associate Director of the Weight Control & Diabetes Research Center of The Miriam Hospital. Dr. Thomas received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Drexel University in 2009. His research is focused on the use of technology for the assessment and intervention of health behaviors, with an emphasis on obesity and related conditions. Dr. Thomas has been awarded grants from the NIH and other organizations to use the Internet, mobile health (mHealth) technology, and virtual reality technology for these purposes. Dr. Thomas conducts research on patients losing weight via behavioral lifestyle intervention and those undergoing bariatric surgery. Dr. Thomas is currently Vice President and incoming President of The Obesity Society eHealth/mHealth Section. He is also a research mentor within the Brown University Clinical Psychology Training Consortium and the T32 in Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine research training at the Brown University Centers of Behavioral and Preventive Medicine (CBPM) and The Miriam Hospital.
