J. Donald Easton, MD, was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He graduated with honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine and was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Easton completed his internship in medicine and residency in neurology at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and assumed his first academic appointment at the University of California at San Diego. In 1986 he was appointed Professor and Chair of the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the Rhode Island Hospital and Alpert Medical School of Brown University. In January 2010 Dr. Easton joined our faculty in the Department of Neurology at UCSF to work with Dr. Clay Johnston on his NIH-funded POINT (Platelet-Oriented Inhibition in New TIA and minor ischemic stroke) trial.
