Ivaylo Mihaylov received his Ph.D. in theoretical Astrophysics in late 2003. After graduation, he assumed a post-doctoral position in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. There was his first encounter with medicine and Radiation Oncology in particular. After completion of his post-doctoral studies, he was appointed as an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, Arkansas. At UMAS he initiated his research and teaching careers. In 2009 he moved from UAMS to Rhode Island Hospital (RIH), where he continued his professional development. Since 2013 he has been working at the University of Miami (UM), where he is actively involved with clinical work, teaching, and research.
