Isabelle Logan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Florida International University. She has a key interest in finding a cure for the inheritable disorder NF2-related Schwannomatosis. Her current research focuses on galectins, and she has recently uncovered a novel gain-of-function related to an irreversible oxidative post-translational modification of galectin-1, protein tyrosine nitration. She believes increasing our understanding of the role of galectins in both tumor growth and immunosuppression to be key in developing new cancer therapies in general.

As a graduate student, she investigated the gut microbiome, using a novel mouse model She has previously characterized changes in gut microbiome composition related to the treatment of diet-induced obesity while linking these changes to phenotypic outcomes in the host. She has a keen interest in immunology, and she was fortunate enough to pursue a side project investigating the effects of delivering the active form of vitamin D in a humanized mouse model of surgical site infection. In her lab work, she continuously strives to broaden her scope, while satisfying her need to perform research on the immune system.
