Isabella Annesi-maesano

Isabella Annesi-Maesano is a research director at Inserm and a professor of environmental epidemiology. She is Deputy Director of the Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health, a joint Inserm and University of Montpellier research unit. Previously, she was head of the EPAR department at IPLESP, Inserm, and Sorbonne University (www.epar.fr), in Paris. His research focuses on explaining the etiopathogenesis of allergic and respiratory diseases and associated comorbidities through an exosomal approach. The main risk factors considered are air pollution and climate change. In this context, she has coordinated several international research projects, including one on the exposome (www.heals-EU. EU) which recruited sets of twins. She has held various management positions in many international medical societies in the field of allergic and respiratory diseases (ERS, ATS, WAO, EAACI, Union), also contributing to Position Papers. She serves on the editorial board as Associate Editor of 8 medical journals and book series. She has published over 600 articles (including two books on respiratory epidemiology) with an h-index of 63 and 19,000 citations. It has been recognized internationally with 3 major awards. Professor Annesi-Maesano is a respiratory epidemiologist by training, who studied physics (Rome) and medicine (Paris).
