Dr. Aboderin holds a BSc degree in Cellular and Molecular Pathology, from the University of Bristol, an MSc degree in Health Promotion Sciences from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and PhD in Social Policy Studies from the University of Bristol.

Isabella was instrumental in the establishment of AFRAN during the period when she was Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing at the University of Oxford. Before which she worked as a Technical Officer on the WHO Ageing and Life Course Programme, a research associate at the International Institute of Health and Ageing, University of Bristol and as a research consultant on projects for the WHO, DFID, IDPM and the Commonwealth Foundation.

Currently, Isabella is the Regional Chair for Africa of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG), Advisory Board member of the World Demographic and Aging Forum (WDA), Member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Aging Societies, and Board Member of HelpAge International. She also serves on the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights Working Group on the Rights of Older Persons in Africa.
