Irmi Gallmeier has a strong and almost 20 year history in working for and with patient groups, starting in the late ‘90s with a pharmaco-economic project for McKinsey Germany, involving cancer patient groups into launch activities of a diagnostic assay as part of her bachelor thesis in Marketing. Coming from a pharmaceutical background and being a specialist in tissue culture, Irmi joined the patient owned German multicenter tumor-bank PATH (Patients Tumor-bank of Hope) in 2002 as a Head of Project Management and Board Member, driving PATH forward to one of the world’s largest repositories of both breast cancer tissue and health records to support research on novel breast cancer treatments – at that time in the early 2000’s a unique project of a patient group’s contribution to both scientific research and Real World Data.
Irmi joined Roche Germany as one of the first Patient Care Managers within the entire organisation. Representing Roche in the Patient Board of the vfa (the German branch of the Pharm. Industry Association EFPIA), she was also strongly involved in the process of bringing in the patient’s voice into the AMNOG, part of the German HTA process.
