Iris Benson MBE

Iris Benson started off her journey with Mersey Care as a volunteer then she became a Service User Carer Representative and now she is a member of staff and works alongside other staff who had cared for her at the very start of their careers as student nurses and doctors. In her current role, she has supported across all areas from a lived experience perspective to help people to understand how it feels to be cared for in the system. This time she has enabled staff to understand the key values of hearing the experiences of people within their care. This has brought about and supported the changes in reducing the need for physical restraint in all areas across the trust via Mersey Care's No Force First Implementation Plan.
