Irfan has completed his training and been appointed as a consultant anesthetist with an interest in vascular anaesthesia in Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey, UK. He graduated from The University of Liverpool and completed basic surgical training at the Royal Surrey County Hospital before switching careers to anaesthesia. Regional anaesthesia allows him to combine anaesthesia, anatomy and practical procedures. Irfan also described a new block called the sub-pectoral interfascial plane block.

In addition to the above he is also passionate about teaching. He is Faculty on a number of regional anaesthesia courses including The Frimley Regional Anaesthesia Catheter Course (FRACC) and the Essex Continuous Regional Anaesthesia Course for more experienced practitioners as well as The Basic Ultrasound Competency in Probe and Needling (BUSCIPAN) course for core trainees. He is a faculty member of the South London Anaesthetic Primary (SLAP) course and is an honorary lecturer in the MSc in Regional Anaesthesia at the University of East Anglia.
