Irene Esposito

Professor Esposito (b. 1972) conducts research in the field of chronic inflammatory and neoplastic disease of the pancreas and biliary system. Her research focuses primarily on (auto)immune disease and the interactions between tumor cells and the microenvironment (inflammation, stroma) in the early stages of carcinogenesis. Since 2008 she has directed mouse pathology at the Institute for Pathology at the Helmholtz Center Munich specializing in the phenotyping of animal models for human disease.
