Iram Kazimi, MD, is an associate professor and Residency Training Director in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She also serves as the director of the Inpatient Pediatric Bipolar Program at UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC). In addition to clinical care and research in pediatric mood disorders, Kazimi has longstanding interests in teaching, mentorship, and curriculum design. As a resident and fellow in the department, she remembers how she benefited from the incredible mentorship and experienced how transformative an outstanding educator could be.
Her personal experiences as a trainee strongly influenced her decision to join the department as faculty in 2008. Her desire is to continue this tradition of excellence and develop a psychiatry residency program that is internationally recognized for clinical and research training as well as innovation in the dissipation of knowledge. Kazimi’s efforts are reflected in how well the residents perform on the annual in-service examination, the APA annual MIND GAMES competition and recognition of resident scholarly activity with national awards, scholarships, and grants.
