Dr. Jacobson is the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Vincent Astor Distinguished Professor of Clinical Medicine, Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and Attending Physician, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Dr. Jacobson completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and is a recognized expert in hepatology and liver disease. Dr. Jacobson has served as a principal investigator on many important trials involving antiviral therapy for both hepatitis B and C. He is currently the Principal Investigator of the WIN-R Trial, the largest multicenter study yet conducted in the hepatitis field. He has published two textbooks: ERCP and Its Applications, Lippincott and Raven, 1998, and ERCP Diagnostic and Therapeutic Applications, Elsevier, 1989. Dr. Jacobson currently serves as Editor In Chief of Hepatitis Index and Reviews, published by Lippincott. He is a frequent speaker on viral hepatitis throughout the United States, and maintains an active practice and clinical trials program evaluating both interferon-based therapeutic regimens and novel antiviral agents. Dr. Jacobson serves as Medical Director for the Center for the Study of Hepatitis C.
