Iqbal Hamza PhD

Iqbal Hamza has received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Bombay, India, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine under the mentorship of Mark O’Brian. He was a postdoctoral fellow with Jonathan Gitlin at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis before joined the University of Maryland in 2002 where he is currently a Professor. Starting with a classical problem in biology, his research program has expanded into genomics, hematology, parasitology, pharmacology, and bioimaging.
