Ionel Checherita MD, PhD

Ionel Alexandru Checherita is an Associated Professor at the Department of Nephrology, Urology, Transplant Immunology, Dermatology and Allergology, “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Bucharest, Romania. In addition, he is the Medical Head of the Department of Nephrology and Dialysis, “St. John” Emergency Clinical Hospital, Bucharest, Romania. Since his beginning as a nephrology doctor, he participated in different national and international congresses and symposiums, and each year, he tried to gain more medical knowledge by attending prestigious academic courses. Because of his constant interest in patients’ quality of life, together with colleagues from his Department, he developed a new renal replacement therapy method, a concept that was warmly appreciated by the international and national nephrology community. He is an active member of various national and international journals’ editorial boards and medical associations (ISN and ERA-EDTA) because I believe only by working together and sharing information we could contribute to medical progress. As proof of his constant work as a doctor and researcher, he published many articles regarding renal pathology, potentially life-threatening complications, and new treatment concepts for improving patients' outcomes. In the future, he hopes his academic career and research will be better, and he would be able to improve the Romanian medical system and discover new therapy techniques for slowing chronic kidney disease's natural evolution.
