Inneke De Laet MD

Inneke De laet After completing her residency in general and abdominal surgery, Inneke De laet chose to start a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University Hospital Ghent (Belgium) where she met Jan De Waele and started doing research on intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome. She feels that the gut and the abdominal organs are underestimated as both cause and consequence of morbidity and mortality in critically ill patients, and is dedicated to contribute to a better understanding of this complex and interesting part of human anatomy and physiology. She is currently working as a critical care consultant in Stuivenberg Hospital Antwerp (Belgium) with Manu Malbrain and previously also at the University Hospital Ghent. Her special interests include the influence of IAP on kidney function and surgical infectious diseases. Inneke is involved in hospital administration and in scientific research concerning the abdominal compartment as related to fluid balance and kidney function.
