Dr. Ines Falcao-Pires, PhD, is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. She received her PhD in Human Biology from the University of Porto in 2009. During this time she developed collaborative work with the Department of Physiology of VUMC (Amsterdam) focusing on the mechanisms underlying diastolic dysfunction and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, particularly on the impact of diabetes mellitus.

Currently, she is the principal investigator of the research group on Myocardial Reverse Remodelling at the Cardiovascular R&D Centre (UnIC) where she focuses on the distinct mechanisms between complete and incomplete reverse remodeling in several cardiovascular diseases, particularly in aortic valve stenosis. Since 2017, she is a nucleus member of the Working Group on Myocardial Function and she currently serves on the committee on Translational Research of the HFA of the ESC.
