Dr. Ihab Elsokkari is an Australian-trained cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist. He is experienced in managing all areas of general cardiology and he is leading the expansion of the cardiac electrophysiology services at Nepean Hospital.

Born and bred in Egypt, Dr. El-Sokkari had a passion for cardiology from a very young age. He was inspired by his mother who was a leading cardiologist in his hometown in Egypt. Following his cardiology residency in Egypt, he decided to call Australia home and completed basic and advanced training in cardiology working across different hospitals in Sydney.

After successfully completing a fellowship at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), he then embarked on subspeciality training in cardiac electrophysiology for three extra years in Australia and Canada.

Dr El-Sokkari returned to Australia following his overseas fellowship as a consultant cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, before being appointed as a cardiac electrophysiologist at Nepean Hospital. Upon his appointment, Dr. El-Sokkari led the expansion of the cardiac electrophysiology services at Nepean Hospital where more complex arrhythmias are currently being treated locally in Penrith.

Dr. El-Sokkari has a keen interest in research, he obtained a master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney and was involved in many research projects leading to multiple presentations and publications nationally and internationally.

He is a keen teacher, regularly teaching medical students and junior doctors and regularly involved in educational sessions for GPs. He is a clinical senior lecturer at the University of Sydney.
