Ignacio Jesus Badiola, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine. His research is focused generally on pain management and specifically on how various regional anesthetic techniques have the potential to provide superior analgesia and a reduction in postoperative opioid use. He also has interested in how chronic opioid use results in changes to the anatomy and function of the brain, specifically the hippocampus and memory. Finally, he is interested in medical cannabis research for acute and chronic pain conditions and medical cannabis policy. He participates in nursing students, medical students, residents, and fellow education in anesthesiology and pain management.

Dr. Badiola is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Chronic Pain Management. He also has added training in regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine. He earned his MD from the University of Miami School Of Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology residency and chronic pain fellowship at UCLA and his acute pain/regional anesthesia fellowship at Vanderbilt University.
