Ignacio I. Wistuba, MD, is Chair and Senior Member of the Department of Translational Pathology at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Florida, USA. Until May 2025, he was Professor and Chair of the Department of Translational Molecular Pathology with a joint appointment in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology, and co-director of the Institute of Personalized Cancer Therapy (IPCT) at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Between 2019 and 2022, he served as Head of the Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at MD Anderson. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).

Dr. Wistuba’s major research interest is the elucidation of the molecular abnormalities involved in the pathogenesis and progression of lung cancer and other solid tumors. He has co-authored over 850 papers in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. He led several extramural peer-reviewed funded (NCI, DoD, V-Foundation, and Texas CPRIT) programmatic research programs. His research interests also include identifying new molecular targets, validating biomarkers for targeted therapy and immunotherapy, and identifying molecular markers associated with lung cancer and other solid tumors development, progression, and metastasis development using annotated human specimens.
