Dr. Ibraheem El-Ghrably, MBBCh, is a Staff Physician at the Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. El-Ghrably was a Consultant Retina Specialist at James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) in Middlesbrough, UK. Dr. El-Ghrably was also a Royal College Tutor at JCUH's Department of Ophthalmology and served as an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for specialty trainee doctors. He chaired the Research and Development Division of Surgery at James Cook University Hospital and was the Ophthalmology Representative for the UK's North East Local Eye Health Network.

In January 2000, Dr. El-Ghrably received the Nottingham University Research Prize for his Ph.D. project. In April 2012, he received the NHS Clinical Excellence Award from James Cook University Hospital as recognition for his clinical service and contribution to teaching, training, and research. He has a special interest in Medical and Surgical Retinal Disorders. He has performed a large number of ocular surgeries, including 3,000 phacoemulsification procedures with intraocular lenses and nearly 800 vitreoretinal surgeries. He has made an active contribution to research and was awarded his Ph.D. degree from Nottingham University in the United Kingdom in 2000. He was the principal investigator for several clinical trials, including the MERLOT trial, comparing treatments for wet age-related macular degeneration, one of the most common causes of blindness in the UK, and Comrade clinical trials at James Cook University Hospital. He has published multiple journal articles and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. 

Dr. El-Ghrably is a member of the advisory board for a number of pharmaceutical companies. He is a member of the Royal College National Committee for the Requirement of Specialist Trainees. He is currently a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmology in the United Kingdom and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in the United States. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Euretina and is registered with the General Medical Council in the United Kingdom.
