Dr. Ian Y. M. Chan, MD, MPH, FRCPC, is Staff Radiologist and Neuroradiologist at Trillium Health Partners. He is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as a specialist physician in Diagnostic Radiology. A proven, experienced, and well-connected self-starter and team player open to clinical and business consulting opportunities and research collaborations, Dr. Chan has an Independent Practice Certificate from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. He provides patient care as a radiologist and neuroradiologist at various hospitals and clinics in Ontario.
Dr. Chan completed his diagnostic radiology residency at Western University, where he served as Chief Resident, and his neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Toronto. His professional interests lie in neuroimaging, artificial intelligence, blockchain, medical education, mentorship, and advocacy. He has experience with all imaging modalities including radiography, CT, US, MRI, fluoroscopy, and nuclear medicine. He also has excellent training in ultrasound, CT, MRI, fluoroscopic, and stereotactic-guided procedures.
He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and is a reviewer and editor for several publications and organizations including RSNA, CMAJ, CARJ, and CJNS. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medical Imaging and Case Reports (MICR). A recipient of many awards and recognitions, Ian has held leadership roles with societies and organizations such as ARRS, RSNA, and PARO and served as Chair of the American Roentgen Ray Society Resident Advisory Subcommittee and is currently Faculty Liaison.
Dr. Chan graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) degree from McMaster University, a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Toronto, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan. Ian was also a CIHR Fellow in Public Health Policy and has held analyst positions at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (now ICES), the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and the Canadian Institute for Health Information. He has served as a Physician Examiner for multiple Medical Council of Canada examinations required for physicians to practice medicine in Canada.
