Ian Caterson is a medical graduate from the University of Sydney and undertook his clinical training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He is currently Director of the Boden Institute of Obesity Nutrition Exercise and Eating Disorders and Boden Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of Sydney and Sydney LHD. He is an Endocrinologist working at RPAH and is Academic Clinical Director of the Charles Perkins Centre RPA Clinic. He established the first multi-disciplinary weight management service in Australia.
He has been president of both the Australian Diabetes Society and the Australasian Society for the Study of Obesity (now ANZOS) & is president of the World Obesity Federation. He is a recognised expert on obesity, its causes, prevention and management.
