Hyun J. Grace Kim is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Departments of Biostatistics (UCLA School of Public Health) and Radiological Sciences (Geffen School of Medicine). Dr. Kim received her B.A. in Mathematics from Ewha Woman’s University in 1997 and her Ph.D. in Biostatistics in 2007 from UCLA, where her dissertation work involved the development of De-noising in CT images and a classification in the patterns of interstitial lung disease. This model has been applied to many interstitial lung disease studies and several clinical trials, including scleroderma Lung Study (SLS). She trained her post-doctoral program in Radiological Sciences at UCLA, specialized in imaging biomarker.
Her areas of interest include classification and techniques for finding patterns in high-dimensional imaging data and visualization of the patterns. She has a wide range of applied interests including asthma, emphysema, lung cancer, interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), and patient-report outcome data in clinical research.
Dr. Kim directs the statistics and data cores for the center for Computer Vision Imaging Biomarkers in Radiological Sciences and is the lead biostatistician of the Thoracic Imaging program at UCLA. Dr. Kim collaborates with scientists including Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCLA; and the Quantitative Imaging Biomarker Alliance and algorithm in Metrology group supported by Radiological Science North America.
