Mr. Hugo Lavoie, postdoctoral investigator in molecular biology at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) of the Université de Montréal received the Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles Award of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé for the month of October. This competition comes with a prize of $1 000 given to the student researcher.

Rewarded for his publication entitled “Inhibitors that stabilize a closed RAF kinase domain conformation induce dimerization” published in Nature Chemical Biology, Mr. Lavoie studies the cellular signals that cause the growth and progression of a large number of human tumours. His work within the team of Marc Therrien, IRIC Scientific Director and Principal Investigator, aims at defining new therapeutic targets and opens innovative avenues for the development of cancer treatments.
