Professor Lin specializes in minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery for the upper respiratory tract. In 2003, he initially presented the therapeutic effects of minimally invasive radiofrequency surgery for treating allergic rhinitis in literature, which was then quoted by the American Academy of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation. In 2010, he published 5-year long-term treatment results of this minimally invasive nasal surgery for patients with nasal allergies. He has successfully improved the traditional nasal operation by decreasing the peri- and postoperative morbidities.
He is also the esteemed specialist in the studies and treatments for snoring and sleep-related breathing diseases (SRBD). He has accumulated quite a lot of therapeutic effects and medical experiences in the postoperative improvements of critical SRBD-related co-morbidities, such as cerebrovascular accident (stroke) and cardiovascular event (acute myocardial infarction), et al.
Currently, he is the associate editor of the Journal of Taiwan Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He was also pointed as a member of the International Editorial Board of the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (official journal of the AAO-HNSF) in 2017 and the Auris Nasus Larynx (official journal of the Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of Japan) in 2016. Apart from having obtained many research awards granted from medical societies in Taiwan, Dr. Lin has earned recognitions from international societies, such as the American College of Surgeons (ACS). As the International Guest Scholar of the ACS, he was invited to five top-notch medical centers (Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Hospital of Stanford University, Hospital of University of California, San Francisco, and Hospital of University of Wisconsin)in the United States in 2012. Additionally, he has received many scientific research awards, including the 2009 AAO-HNSF Honor Award, 2017 Best in Sleep Medicine (Gold Ribbon Award) of the AAO-HNSF and 2018 Best Poster Award in Sleep Medicine of the AAO-HNSF.
