Holger Reinecke

Holger Reinecke has joined the European Heart Journal as an International Associate Editor from Germany. A native of Dortmund, Germany, he has spent his whole medical career in nearby Münster on the River Ems.

Holger studied medicine at the University of Münster completing his degree in 1994. The following year he finished his doctoral thesis and graduated with Dr med in 1995. He stayed at the University Hospital Münster as a resident physician in the Department of Cardiology and Angiology until 1996. He progressed to Physician in the same department in 1996 and continued as such until 2001 when he became a senior consultant in the Department of Cardiology and Angiology until 2009.

During that period, he completed his habilitation with venia legendi and started his academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2004. In the first decade of the 21st century, he successfully qualified as a physician specialist in internal medicine, cardiology, intensive care medicine, and angiology.
