Dr. Hiroyuki Tsuchiya is now the professor and chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Graduate School of Medical Science, Kanazawa University, Japan. He graduated from Kanazawa University medical school in 1983 and got a Japanese medical license. He started to study and work in the musculoskeletal oncology field in 1986, and also was involved in limb reconstruction with an external fixator in 1989.

Tsuchiya developed caffeine-potentiated chemotherapy for bone and soft-tissue sarcomas, tumor reconstruction using distraction osteogenesis procedure, tumor reconstruction using tumor-bearing autogenous bone treated by liquid nitrogen ntimicrobial iodine coating for orthopedic implants, cryo-immunological treatment” and more. He also achieved numerous basic researches in both orthopedic and oncology fields. He is now a board member of the Japanese Orthopedic Association and the president of The International Society of Limb Salvage (ISOLS) and ASAMI-Japan and a director of many Japanese medical societies. Furthermore, he has more than 360 English publications regarding tumor biology, tumor surgery, trauma, distraction osteogenesis, pediatric orthopedics, and so on.
