After graduating from St. Marianna's School of Medicine, he worked as an intern, and then from 1988 to 1990, he worked as a Research Fellow in small bowel transplantation and ECMO at LA Children's Hospital. After returning to Japan, he worked as a lecturer at St. Marianna's School of Medicine, Yokohama City Western Hospital, and since 1995, he has been a junior consultant at the University of Otago Wellington Hospital under Professor Kevin Pringle. After returning to Japan, he gained clinical experience at Yokohama City Seibu Hospital, St. Marianna University School of Medicine, and the main hospital of the university. He is currently conducting joint research with the University of Otago, including the development of bladder function-preserving catheters for urinary tract obstruction in sheep, and is conducting fetal treatment experiments in large animals.
