Hinrich Abken MD, PhD

Professor Abken is a specialist in biochemistry and has the C3 professorship since July 1993 Tumor Genetics held and has since become a member of the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne. He is also a member of the Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne (CMMC) and directs the Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Genetics and the Central Cell Sorting Facilities of CMMC.

Professor Abken studied from 1977 - 1983 at the University of Essen Medicine, was awarded a doctorate in molecular and cell biology at the Institute of Molecular Biology, Post-Doc was then at the Institute of Cell Biology at the University of Essen (Director: Prof. MF Rajewsky), from 1987 group leader at the Institute of Genetics (Director: Prof. K. Will corner) of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty of the University of Bonn, where he received in 1993 venia legendi for genetics and immunology.

Professor Abken holds the training authorization for the field of biochemistry. In his research group can be made as a specialist training in Biochemistry with equivalent qualifications and activity up to 30 months.

Professor Abken is a member of numerous national and international professional societies. He is still active as a reviewer for scientific journals, funding organizations and academic institutions at home and abroad. He is also a senior member in the European Consortium ATTACK and ATTRACT.
