Hilary Pearce qualified as a nurse in New Zealand in 1993 and dabbled in many areas of hospital nursing before finding her niche in the chaos of ED in 2001. Whilst toiling away in the service of the NHS in England, she completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing and was fortunate enough to meet an Australian who agreed to marry her! Upon return to Australia, she worked in ED as a clinical nurse from 2003 and developed an interest in education. Following a stint of juggling full time work in ED, growing a couple of kids and sessional tutoring for undergraduate nurses at JCU, she completed her Masters Degree in Education and gained the position of Nurse Educator in ED at Cairns Hospital in 2010. She has thoroughly enjoyed messing with the minds of post-registration nurses in ED ever since!
