Dr. Schubert is Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Pathology at Columbia University (tenured) and an attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.He received his MD from Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf, Germany and completed residencies in both pathology and ophthalmology at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York as well as a retina fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.

He is a co-editor of Survey of Ophthalmology and has been a writing committee member and Retina and Vitreous section chair of the American Academy of Ophthalmology for seven years.He has been a lecturer at the Harkness Basic Clinical Science Course since 1981, is the Director of the Ocular Anatomy section for the annual Lancaster Course, Director of the Ocular Pathology Section for the Greater NY Clinical Science Course, and a participant of the Wills Eye review course since 1990.

Dr. Schubert is a member of seven ophthalmic associations globally: the New York Ophthalmological Society, Manhattan Ophthalmological Society, American Ophthalmological Society, German Ophthalmological Society, Retina Society.
