Hermann Brugger MD

Hermann Brugger is the director of EURAC’s Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine and also works as a general practitioner in Brunico. Furthermore, Brugger is an emergency doctor and a mountain emergency physician with the Alpenverein Südtirol (Alpine Club South Tyrol). In 1992, he was awarded the Eduard Wallnöfer Award in Innsbruck; in 1995, he received the Georg Grabner research award in Vienna. From 2001 until 2009, he was president of the International Commission for Mountain Emergency Medicine ICAR MEDCOM. Brugger obtained his professorial habilitation degree at the Innsbruck Medical University in 2006. He is a lecturer at the universities of Innsbruck and Padua and has published several scientific papers on the topics of trauma from hypotermia and avalanche accident victims.
