Herbert L. Muncie Jr., MD, is a Professor of Family Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He previously served as the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Maryland. He then joined the faculty at LSU School of Medicine New Orleans. He served as the Director of Medical student education at LSU and worked as a family physician. He also worked in several Emergency Rooms in Louisiana.
After completing a bachelor's degree in pre-med at the University of Georgia, Dr. Muncie received his MD from the Medical College of Georgia in 1971. He completed a Family Medicine residency at the University of Maryland Hospital, where he served as chief resident, as well as a fellowship in Family Medicine. He is board-certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine, with a certificate of added qualifications in Geriatrics.
