Henry Jay Forman was born and grew up in New York City. He is Research Professor of Gerontology at the University of Southern California and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry, University of California, Merced. He received his B.A. in Chemistry from Queens College, City University of New York and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Columbia University and was a postdoctoral fellow at Duke University with Irwin Fridovich. Forman’s previous academic positions include University of Pennsylvania in Physiology, University of Southern California in Pediatrics, Pathology , and Molecular Toxicology, and the University of Alabama, where he was the Chairman of Environmental Health Sciences. Forman is Past President of the Society for Free Radical Biology and Medicine and is now Editor-in-Chief of Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics. Dr. Forman has taught a broad range of subjects including organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physiology.
