Helmut Brath MD

Dr. Helmut Brath is presently a consultant physician and head of the Diabetes- and Lipid Metabolism Outpatient Clinic, Health Center Favoriten, Vienna, Austria. He serves as a member of national guidelines committees for both diabetes and smoking cessation. He has been a principal investigator and national coordinator of numerous international phase 2 – 4 studies as well as a member of an international steering committee. He served on the Board of the Austrian Diabetes Association, including for two years as its First Secretary. His main fields of interest and scientific work are diabetes, obesity, preventive medicine, and smoking cessation.

Dr. Brath is a member of several scientific associations and societies and has been the author or co-author of over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles; further, he has contributed to different scientific books. He currently teaches at the Sigmund Freund University, Vienna, and at the FH Joanneum – University of Applied Science, Graz. He is regularly invited to chair or provide scientific lectures both nationally and internationally, which has brought him to 36 countries so far.
