Dr. Helena Frecker, MD FRCSC MSc(HQ) is a Royal College certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition to her specialist training, she has completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and a Masters Degree in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. Dr. Frecker has a particular interest in providing safe and inclusive care for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly for gender diverse patients. She is involved in education, research, advocacy, and policy development in this area.

Dr. Frecker graduated from the University of Toronto Medical school in 2009 and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto in 2014. She then went on to do a two-year fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, with a focus on complex vaginal and pelvic reconstructive surgery, robotics, advanced laparoscopy, and hysteroscopy, and complex open surgery. While in the midst of her fellowship, Dr. Frecker concurrently pursued a Master of Science in Healthcare Quality through Queen’s University and completed both in 2016.

Dr. Frecker started as a staff Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Michael Garron Hospital in 2016. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto and is actively involved in teaching. She is actively involved in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives at the university and hospital level.
