Helen Shih NP, MPH

Helen Shih is a nurse practitioner for thoracic and sarcoma oncology at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. She sees patients with non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, sarcomas, thyroid cancers and mesothelioma. She is also involved in clinical trials investigating lung cancer and new treatment strategies.

Before joining UCSF, Shih worked in a private hematology/oncology practice, with the Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation in an Anticoagulation Clinic, and as a primary care nurse practitioner with the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Additionally, she worked as a registered nurse in the pulmonary step-down unit at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City.

Shih graduated as an adult nurse practitioner (ANP) from the Columbia University School of Nursing. Previously, she received her Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology from UCLA and a bachelor's degree in molecular cell biology from UC Berkeley. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
