Helen E. Foster MBBS, MD, DCH, FRCPCH, FRCP

Professor Helen Foster is Honorary Consultant at Newcastle NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust. Her clinical interests include transitional care for young people to adult rheumatology, and she set up the adult continuity clinic for young people with Juvenile Arthritis at Freeman Hospital. Her current role focuses on adolescent rheumatology at Great North Children's Hospital and shared care with Dr Martin Lee for young adults (up to the age of 25 years) at the Freeman Hospital.

She is based at Newcastle University and leads the academic programme with research focusing on improving access to specialist care and developing evidence-based educational tools to facilitate earlier diagnosis of children's arthritis. There are numerous research collaborations with the university and at a national and international level, including clinical trials, cohort studies, Registries and access to care.
