Dr. Strohmaier is licensed as a psychologist in Minnesota. After completing her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she earned a PhD in clinical psychology from Drexel University and received specialized training in health and forensic psychology. She completed a predoctoral internship at the James Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL and a postdoctoral fellowship in Primary Care/Health Psychology at HCMC.
As a psychologist at HCMC, Dr. Strohmaier works with primary care providers to address patients' psychological, medical, and chemical health conditions through brief, evidence-based assessment and interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. She also conducts psychological evaluations for spinal cord stimulation and bariatric surgery and is involved in training medical residents and psychology interns and fellows. Dr. Strohmaier's primary research interests concern provider wellness, violence prevention, and diversion for justice-involved individuals with mental health needs.
