Heather Kaiser Hayanga, MD, MPH joined the Department of Anesthesiology of West Virginia University as a member of the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiologist Team. She is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (Anesthesiology, 2015) and the National Board of Echocardiography (Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography, 2015). Dr. Hayanga earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine; Cincinnati, OH in 2010.
She completed two years of her Anesthesia Residency at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA, then transferred and completed her Anesthesia Residency in 2014 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital; Baltimore, MD with her husband, who had completed his Fellowship. She completed her Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital; Baltimore, MD in 2015. Dr. Hayanga joins the Department as an Assistant Professor from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center; Pittsburgh, PA. She serves as Co-Director of Cardiac Anesthesia Education and Clinical Research.
