Heather Flowers has worked as a speech-language pathologist for over 10 years in multiple healthcare environments, ranging from the emergency room to ambulatory and long-term care. Prior to undertaking studies in speech-language pathology, she obtained a Master of Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and maintains a strong interest in rehabilitative education.
Heather Flowers undertook both her Master of Health Science and Ph.D. in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. Her doctoral studies centered on swallowing and associated communication impairments within a clinical epidemiological framework. As part of her Ph.D. studies, Heather received training at the Institute for Clinical and Evaluative Sciences, Sunnybrook Campus. She joined the University of Ottawa as an Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science in November 2016.
