Heather Bittner Fagan, M.D., MPH, FAAFP, is a practicing physician, faculty member and the associate vice chair for research in Family & Community Medicine at Christiana Care. Since 2011, Dr. Fagan has been an associate professor at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and has made regional and national contributions to research on cancer screenings in primary care and underserved populations. Dr. Fagan is a recipient of the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Control Career Development Award, which recognizes and develops national leaders in cancer control and prevention. She is a co- director for the community engagement and outreach component of the ACCEL program, a multi-site grant supporting clinical and translational research to address some of Delaware’s most pressing health needs.

Dr. Fagan earned her medical degree from MCP Hahnemann University and completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2002. She completed her primary care research fellowship at Jefferson Medical College in 2003 and has been active in health research since then. In 2007, she completed a distance fellowship for the Grant-Generating Project of the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation.
