Dr Said is currently a Professor in Assiut University, Egypt, where he was awarded the State Encouragement Prize for Medical Sciences in 2012. His medical training and most of the postgraduate training was in Assiut University Hospital, Egypt. He went to the UK to for his M.D. Thesis: Knee Replacements in 2002 at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham. In 2005, he was awarded a Senior Arthroscopy Fellowship in the UK, at the Birmingham Royal Orthopedic Hospital, where he trained in shoulder arthroscopy. Since then his main specialty has been knee and shoulder arthroscopy, and has led the development of this field in Assiut so that it has become a hub for treatment of shoulder and knee disorders related to sports medicine. In the last 12 years, he has developed interest in hip arthroscopy and completed a hip arthroscopy fellowship in Germany in 2010 with one of the pioneers in the field. With increasing understanding and recognition of femoral acetabular impingement (FAI), hip arthroscopy has become a prominent part of his practice and he has become one of the leaders in the field in the Middle East. He been faculty in numerous international meetings and courses, and is very involved in teaching and technical development of aspiring surgeons in the field of hip & shoulder arthroscopy. Professor Said has chaired many courses, and the last is the 3nd Assiut Shoulder Arthroscopy course in Nov. 2018, and he also chaired the first Cadaveric Hip Arthroscopy Course in Assiut in 2016. He is a member of numerous International societies like SICOT and AO Trauma, and is on the Editorial board of many international journals. In 2015, he became the Editor in Chief of SICOT-Journal until the present. His passion for teaching is practiced in numerous courses and conferences in the Middle East and around the world. Dr Said is currently a Professor in Assiut University, Egypt, where he was awarded the State Encouragement Prize for Medical Sciences in 2012.
