Hatem Aboumarie FRCP, MSc

Dr Hatem Aboumarie is a consultant in cardiothoracic intensive care, clinical lead for organ donation, and clinical lead for advanced critical care practitioners at Harefield Hospital. In addition to this role, he is an honorary senior lecturer at the School of Cardiovascular Medicine and Sciences at King’s College London.

Dr Aboumarie is an elected member of the executive board and councillor for echocardiography at the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) of the European Society of Cardiology for the term 2022-2024.

He is also a member of the EACVI Education Committee, Web and Communication Committee, and Scientific Initiatives Committee at the European Society of Cardiology and Deputy Chair of the Heart Imagers of Tomorrow Committee (200-2022). Additionally, he is an elected Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography, Fellow of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy of the UK.

Dr Aboumarie is an honorary senior lecturer at the School of Cardiovascular Medicine and Sciences at King’s College London. He teaches point-of-care ultrasound to undergraduate students at King’s College London. Dr Aboumarie is a nationally and internationally recognized educator in the field of echocardiography and point-of-care ultrasound, with over 300 lectures, workshops, and symposia organized, which are delivered to more than 25 countries worldwide. He is also a regular faculty in the world’s largest echocardiography congresses. He has received several teaching awards for his contributions to medical education in echocardiography and point-of-care ultrasound from many countries around the globe. In 2021, he was awarded the EACVI Excellence in Education Distinguished Educator Award by the European Society of Cardiology.
