Haruna Iwaoka PhD

Haruna Iwaoka is the head of Advanced Modeling & Assays, Innovation Core Lab at Astellas Pharma Inc. She leads the digital transformation of drug testing platforms using AI and robotics. Joining Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., now Astellas, in 1994, she has been involved in target discovery, assay development, and advanced cell models. She obtained her Ph.D. in agricultural chemistry from Tokyo University of Agriculture in 2019. Recently, she has attracted worldwide attention for developing the unique drug discovery platform (SLAS Technol. 2021; 26(5): 441-453; 2023; 28(5), 351-360).
