Harald Kolmar PhD

Dr. Harald Kolmar studied biochemistry at the University of Tübingen, Germany. He received his PhD degree in 1992. After postdoctoral work at the University of Göttingen and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, the USA on bacterial signal transduction and on proteases of the HtrA family he established an independent research group in 1995 in the department of molecular genetics at the University of Göttingen and mainly worked on the engineering of so-called cystine knot mini proteins for biomedical applications.

In 2005, he was appointed full professor of biochemistry at the Technische Universität Darmstadt. His current research interests are related to protein engineering with a focus on antibody and enzyme engineering and the generation of peptides and mini proteins with prescribed binding characteristics.
