Hans-peter Horny

Dr. Hans-Peter Horny was born in Göppingen, Baden-Württemberg (Germany) in 1951 and dedicated his research and career to the morphology and pathology of tissue mast cells in various pathologic conditions, and especially to the diagnosis and classification of mastocytosis. Trained by his famous teacher and world-leading pathologist Karl Lennert in Kiel (1978-1986), Horny soon became an experienced pathologist and he soon felt in love with mast cells and mastocytosis. In 1986 he moved to the University of Tübingen and was promoted to an Associate Professor of Pathology in 1996. In 2000, Horny was recruited as a C3 Professor to the Institute of Pathology of Lübeck (University of Schleswig Holstein). Between 2006 and 2011 he worked in Ansbach and established a local center for hematopathology. Since 2012, Professor Horny works as Professor of Pathology at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (Germany) and is head of a Reference Center for Hematopathology.
