Hani Wadei MD, FAST, FASN

Hani M. Wadei, M.D., is a transplant nephrologist and Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He specializes in the care of patients undergoing kidney and pancreas transplantation, with expertise in both pre-transplant evaluation and long-term post-transplant management.

Dr. Wadei’s clinical focus includes the treatment of complex kidney-related conditions such as chronic kidney disease, end-stage renal disease, diabetic nephropathy, hypertension, and kidney failure. He is experienced in immunosuppressive therapy and transplant medicine, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

His research interests center on transplant-related complications, including viral reactivation after kidney transplantation and the impact of blood pressure on kidney function before and after transplantation.

Dr. Wadei completed his medical degree at Cairo University, followed by residency training in internal medicine and nephrology. He pursued advanced fellowship training in nephrology at Wayne State University and transplant nephrology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology and has received multiple academic honors for excellence during his medical education.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Wadei is actively involved in academic medicine and research, contributing to scientific publications and participating in professional organizations such as the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation.
